Case File Review
Review all documents and data generated at the crime lab during the processing of the evidence. Review the chain of custody and all policies and procedures utilized during the analysis. Evaluate the evidence that was analyzed and confirm that the results that are reported are accurate. Also evaluate what evidence was not examined and determine what questions are still unanswered for the jury/panel.
Trial Consulting and Observations
Having observed numerous trials from voir dire to findings, Mrs. Ross can provide guidance through every phase of trial: (1) assist with witness testimony; (2) provide an effective cross prior to the DNA analyst testifying; (3) add additional questions during trial; and (4) contribute to formulating a proper closing argument that best represents the evidence and the attorney’s theory of the case.
Expert Witness Testimony
When testimony is required, you can expect succinct testimony that is scientifically accurate and clearly understandable by the panel/jury.
Observe Evidence Testing
On the rare occasion that the lab has a limited amount of evidence to be tested, it may be necessary for that evidence to be consumed. In these situations it is recommended that an expert be present to observe the condition of the evidence prior to testing.
Pro Bono Review
For attorneys representing the Public Defender’s Office in any parish in Louisiana, report reviews will be performed at no cost. If additional time is required to review the case file from the lab, funding will need to be secured.
